Road Surveillance Officer

$70,000 – $75,000 + Super
24-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Full-Time

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to get involved in flood recovery works and make a tangible difference in your community? We’re currently recruiting for a Road Surveillance Officer to support the restoration of essential infrastructure impacted by the 2022 flood events across a local government area in regional Victoria.

About the Role:

This 24-month fixed-term contract will see you on the ground—literally—inspecting flood-affected assets across the region’s road network. From bridges and footpaths to drainage structures and trees, you’ll play a key role in identifying damage, informing restoration programs, and keeping detailed records to support long-term recovery efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of roads, footpaths, bridges, and drainage assets

  • Complete condition and accident reports, supported by photographic records

  • Assist in developing the flood recovery program by identifying key restoration projects

  • Collect and enter data into the disaster management system

  • Carry out asset audits and help maintain infrastructure registers

  • Operate safely and report hazards or urgent issues as needed

About You:

You're someone who’s comfortable working independently, confident engaging with the public, and keen to contribute to infrastructure recovery in a meaningful way.

You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in road maintenance, civil works or construction

  • A current Victorian driver’s licence (essential)

  • Basic computer/data entry skills or a willingness to learn

  • Great communication and problem-solving abilities

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (desirable but not essential)

Why Apply?

  • $70,000 – $75,000 + super

  • 24-month fixed-term role with immediate impact

  • Supportive and collaborative team environment

  • Meaningful, community-focused work
